I have been thinking a lot about the Duck Billed Platypus.
With the bill of a duck, the tail of a beaver, and venomous claws on the male’s back feet… I mean come on how weird Is that?! Oh and unlike other mammals, the platypus is one of only three monotremes, so they lay eggs, but nurse their young the way other mammals do.
They live in Australia and only come out to feed at night for safety reasons, not because they are nocturnal. They live in streams and eat small fish. They have adapted to life under water so if they tried to walk on land they would be really clumsy. Their sting usually causes paralysis in the area where stung, but it is very rare to ever encounter one. I am sure glad I have never been stung!
I love to be positive, but they are vulnerable due to habitat changes, from humans using their streams for industrial and domesticated purposes. But hey let’s be positive! Hey let’s try using different water sources! Let’s use water more wisely! Like turn of the faucet when we are not using it.
I think the Duck BIlled Paltypus are really, really, really cute!!!!!!!!
Learning, loving and enjoying the awesome Duck Billed Platypus.
